Training on Strategy Implementation and Business Model Innovation in Private Banking

Arvetica is launching a training program for private banking strategy and management, which you can find on the Arvetica website. The first three courses to take place in November and December focus on strategy issues. Upcoming workshops will cover topics ranging from client acquisition and process industrialization to Web and e-banking strategy.
Scheduled Strategy Workshops:
28.-29.Nov’07: Designing and Implementing Strategy in Private Banking with Strategy Maps
- Take away: After this workshop you will understand the basics of the strategy map and balanced scorecard approach (by Kaplan and Norton). You will have practical tools to reconcile long term strategic vision with strategy execution and measurement.
- Description: The aim of this workshop is to understand and be able to apply the strategy map concept with the balanced scorecard in your organization. In the workshop you will learn about the main strengths of the approach, which lies in the simple visual representation of a strategy and its ability to reconcile strategic vision with strategy implementation, communication, measurement and management.We will explore a pragmatic toolbox and process to successfully design and implement strategy maps. Throughout the workshop we will practice with exercises exclusively from private banking and wealth management. To help you avoid common mistakes in strategic mapping we will outline some of the lessons learned in implementing strategy maps.
3.-4.Dec’07: Business Model Innovation and New Business Models in Wealth Management
- Take away: After this workshop you will know and understand some of the industry’s most innovative business models, for example EFG Bank or peer networks of wealthy individuals like TIGER 21. You will also be able to use a pragmatic framework to innovate within your own business model.
- Description: This workshop has two goals. First, it aims at helping managers foster business model innovation at large. Second, it shall give managers a broad overview of innovative business models in wealth management and private banking. We will first embark on a grand tour to discover a series of different innovative organizations in wealth management and private banking.
We will show how innovation merges with tradition in this people business. The exploration will cover examples ranging from innovative traditional private banks, over specialized boutique banks, to independent asset manager platforms and peer networks of wealthy individuals.
The participants will learn how to apply a simple and pragmatic approach to achieve and implement business model innovation.
5.-6.Dec’07: Strategy Grand Tour
- Take away: After this 2 days workshop you will understand the basics of competitive strategy. You will have a better understanding the different schools of strategic thinking through the presentation of dateless strategy icons and management gurus of our time.
- Description: This workshop aims at giving a general introduction to strategy for those unfamiliar with the field. We will present you the art and science of making and managing hypothesis about the future. The workshop starts with a broad overview of strategy and strategic management introducing authors such as Sun-tzu (The Art of War), Carl von Clausewitz (On War), Michael Porter (Competitive Strategy), Robert Kaplan and David Norton (The Strategy Focused Organization and Strategy Maps), Henry Mintzberg (The Strategy Process), Arnoldo Hax and Dean Wilde (The Delta Project), Kim and Mauborgne (Blue Ocean Strategy), Coulter (Strategic Management), Hax and Majluf (The Strategy Concept and Process). The strategy grand tour is concluded with an introduction to more psychological and cognitive views introducing authors like Ackerman, Eden and Finn (Visible Thinking) and Huff (Mapping Strategic Thought and Mapping Strategic Knowledge). All participants are provided with a framework for comparing these different approaches.
