We wrote about the Global Financial Centres Index (pdf) commissioned by the City of London Corporation in a previous blogpost. For this post we interviewed Mark Yeandle of Z/Yen, who is one of the lead authors of the study that will appear every 6 months.

In the podcast we talked about the two leading global financial centres, London and New York (rank 1 and rank 2) and the position & role of the following centres Hong Kong, Singapore and Zurich (rank 3-5 in that order). It was also interesting to see that India’s leading financial centre, Mumbai, is ranked quite low, despite the fact that India continues to produce high economic growth and despite the fact that it is becoming an extremely attractive wealth management market.

At the end of the podcast we asked Mark about the details of Zurich and Geneva’s position in the top ten of the Global Financial Centres Index (rank 5 and 10) and also got some insights into the upcoming update which will appear this September.
