Recently Arvetica organized a “strategy grand tour”. The slides below were the backbone of the event that led participants through the art and science of making and managing hypothesis about the future.

The event aimed at giving a general introduction to strategy for those unfamiliar with the field and guided participants through the schools of strategic thinking by giving a better understanding of the dateless strategy icons and management gurus of our time.

The event provided a broad overview of strategy and strategic management introducing authors such as Sun-tzu (The Art of War), Carl von Clausewitz (On War), Michael Porter (Competitive Strategy), Robert Kaplan and David Norton (The Strategy Focused Organization and Strategy Maps), Henry Mintzberg (The Strategy Process), Arnoldo Hax and Dean Wilde (The Delta Project), Kim and Mauborgne (Blue Ocean Strategy), Coulter (Strategic Management), Hax and Majluf (The Strategy Concept and Process) and provide participants with a framework for comparing these different approaches.

The strategy grand tour concluded with an introduction to more psychological and congnitive views introducing authors like Ackerman, Eden and Finn (Visible Thinking) and Huff (Mapping Strategic Thougt and Mapping Strategic Knowledge).

We particularly enjoyed this event since strategy is our daily business and because Arvetica has the ambition to maintain the best strategy library in town.
