WISE: Venture Philantropy, Private Banking and Wealth Management
Wednesday, December 13 2006
Venture Philantropy is rapidly becoming a small, but indispensable part of any private banking and wealth management offer.
In this context we did a webcast with Etienne Eichenberger, co-founder of a start-up called WISE. The abbreviation stands for “Wealthy Individuals and Social Entrepreneurs” and indicates the company’s value proposition of connecting projects and entrepreneurs in the social domain with capital from wealthy “investors” with a social goal.
WISE has a very intriguing business model because it operates as a commercial enterprise while clearly pursuing a social goal. This positions the company extremely well among wealthy individuals who often come from entrepreneurial or business backgrounds and would like to see private sector methods applied to their social ventures.
Since a global social consciousness is the nouveau chic among the wealthy this is a trend that every private banker and wealth manager ought to follow.
